Why does this need a server, when some PDF tools don't?
Real compression re-encodes embedded images and streams, which needs a proper PDF processing library — that work happens on our server. Your file is checked and previewed locally first so a corrupted upload fails immediately, but the actual compression itself is server-side.
Will compression always shrink the file?
Not always — a PDF that's already well-optimized, or one that's mostly text with few images, may not shrink much further. The result shows the actual before/after size either way.
What's the file size limit?
10MB per file.
